America the Beautiful?

Written January 29, 2017

I’d like to start off by reminding you about the short version of my disclaimer. I am a woman who is not politically correct. I don’t care who you are or what you do. If you are human and you show me respect, I’ll respect you. That respect can even be simple manners. Also, I hate politics and I do not align myself with any particular party. I am neither an optimist nor a pessimist. I am what some may call a realist. Most importantly I can agree to disagree. Today I am going to write my opinion based on truth. Please forgive it’s length but I’ve written what needs to be said. I welcome respectful dialog in opposition to my views.

In the past, I’ve written a lot of stuff from more of a general point of view. That is until now. Some of you reading this may think I’m ranting, and perhaps I am somewhat. There’s one thing I am sure of and that is the lunacy in America has reached an all time high. It started before President Trump was elected. Perhaps even before Mr Obama was elected. Between political correctness, hypocrisy, bipartisanship and not listening each other, the country I’ve call home has descended into chaos.

To begin with, none of us are really bad people. We all have the privilege of 24/7 information(and misinformation), Freedom of Speech and social media. With all of this stuff at our disposal comes certain responsibilities. First and foremost we need to be a little more tolerant and respectful to other people along with their thoughts and feelings. We also need to keep in mind that not everything we see on social media is not true. Allow me to explain without sugar coating it.

I want to talk about illegal immigration and letting anyone and everyone just come in willy nilly. Previous administrations have set limits on immigration. Yes, there are an astronomical amount of people around the world who are being persecuted. There’s no questioning that, but what we do need to question is what are we willing to risk to help these refugees? Are we willing to have more and more terrorist attacks that kill more of our citizens? Are we willing to risk another large scale loss of human life like we did September 11, 2001? Or have we forgotten the images that were on our tv’s the day and the days and weeks to follow.

Yes, my family came here from other countries, however, my Ancestors came here LEGALLY. Not only didn’t they come here thru the proper channels, but, the countries they came from did not wish death to Americans. Plus they assimilated to the ways of this country. The majority of them learned to speak English, found employment and followed the laws of the land. Yes, I fear for the future generations if this terrorism isn’t stopped. No, as I’ve said before, I’m not a conspiracy theorist , nor am I an optimist or a pessimist but I am a realist.

The wall on our southern border and the temporary ban on people from certain countries with ties to terrorism is for our safety. Re-read that sentence. The keywords in it are “temporary ban”, “from countries” and  “terrorism “. Do you hear anything that says we won’t accept anymore immigrants? Absolutely not. Does that statement say anything about racism or bigotry? No. This is what the new administration is doing. It was a promise that President Trump made in his campaign and in case no one has noticed, he’s a man of his word. President Trump and his administration are protecting us from the CRIMINALS who have said they would sneak in with the good, innocent immigrants. They are protecting us from jihadists, not Muslims.

To some people this may sound familiar to the days of World War II and maybe it is a little. Only now we have Islamic terrorists instead of Japanese or German terrorists. However the big take away here is that we are finally being protected. Those who’ve died or been wounded at the hands of terrorists did not suffer in vain. Today we have people in certain countries who want us dead. The temporary halt on immigration is not based on race or creed. Islam is practiced in Pakistan, India, Saudi Arabia and many other countries. No one has an unfettered right to demand entry into our country except for people who are already citizens. Our Constitution was designed to protect legal citizens of this country.

Let me ask you this. Do you lock the doors on your house? If so, why? Are you preventing certain people from coming into your home who are from a particular race or creed? Or are you preventing criminals like thieves and murderers from coming into your home? This is exactly why we need to do these things. Just take a look at Europe and you will see the effects of open door, open border, policies.

I have known a number of people who’ve served in our military and have been to these places where terrorism is an everyday occurrence. The horrors they saw make them shudder. If any of us regular citizens saw ½ of what they saw we would cower in fear. Just hearing some of the stories horrifies me. The goal of these people is to conquer the world and impose their sharia law on all of us. Research for yourself what that is and decide for yourself if that’s how you want to live.

I’d like to share part of a State of the Union Address that was delivered 12yrs ago this year. “All Americans, not only in the states most heavily affected, but in every place in this country, are rightly disturbed by the large numbers of illegal aliens entering our country. The jobs they hold might otherwise be held by citizens or legal immigrants. The public service they use impose burdens on our taxpayers. That’s why our administration has moved aggressively to secure our borders more by hiring a record number of new border guards, by deporting twice as many criminal aliens as ever before, by cracking down on illegal hiring, by barring welfare benefits to illegal aliens.

“In the budget I will present to you we will try to do more to speed the deportation of illegal aliens who are arrested for crimes, to better identify illegal aliens in the workplace as recommended by the commission headed by former Congresswoman Barbara Jordan.

“We are a nation of immigrants. But we are also a nation of laws. It is wrong and ultimately self-defeating for a nation of immigrants to permit the kind of abuse of our immigration laws we have seen in recent years, and we must do more to stop it.”

These words came from then Democratic President Bill Clinton in 1995. On top of that, in 2011 then Democratic President Obama did the same thing but for 120 days instead of the 90 days that President Trump. Plus the same countries that are involved in President Trump’s plan are the same countries that then President Obama restricted.

The reason our economy is in decline, taxes rising along with crime and yes drug addiction is because of the criminal illegal immigrants. They are the ones who are a drain on our economic and judicial systems. My same sentiments apply to these sanctuary cities.

Look, I know a great many people are distraught over the election results. I get that. The way we are living and the policies and laws we’ve created are not in line with how our Founding Fathers envisioned for us today. Granted times change, and that’s life. But there’s something to be said for the ways of our Ancestors. What we all need to do is to stop and take a deep breath. Then we need to come in from right and left fields of thought so we can work on solutions.

Thought for the day: America is a rich and beautiful yet very divided country. In order to fix this we need to be a part of the solution, not part of the problem.

About Bella’s Thoughts. This is a project that I began in my mind a number of years ago when I began reading some daily meditations. I had my own thoughts on many occasions and attempted to journal many times without success. It began to take shape when I took on another project for a Spiritual Advisor and dear friend who past away. To learn more about me read my very first blog post. For more daily reflections go to...
