“Be fearless in the pursuit of what sets your soul on fire” – Jennifer Lee
America is the land of opportunity. We can do or be anything we want to. There are times, tho, when we face obstacles in our path. Instead of going around or moving that obstacle, we give up. We claim that we are victims of our circumstances. We say, “I quit!” and we never continue on our path to success. Before long, we get an outlook, arising from real or imagined victimization, that seems to glorify and indulge the state of being a victim.
Before I started writing, I attempted a few different careers. One of them was a career in healthcare. Since I didn’t think I was smart enough, I didn’t go to school to advance my career. I tried other aspects of the field but I didn’t get very far and eventually gave up. After some soul searching, and a couple of situations that fell in my lap, I began writing. Once I did, I couldn’t stop. I found my passion. That passion was fueled by the reactions I got when I shared my work on social media. I did get a few negative reactions but I didn’t let them deter me. I kept writing.
Now what sets my soul on fire is putting my writing in a book and getting published. I’ll keep writing until I get published or I can’t write anymore – whichever comes first. If an obstacle is in my way, I’ll find a way around it or I’ll move it.
Thought for the day: There are no obstacles to big to stop your passion. Identify the problem, identity the solution and do the footwork to etc to that solution. Only you can decide if you’re a victim or not.
